I love my dough, how can I make it last?

Store it in an airtight container, in a cool location.

If it begins for feel drier, a drop of water worked into it will refresh it.

If you leave it out and it gets "crusty", cut off the "crusty" part, throw it away and work a drop of water into the remaining dough.

You can probably expect about an average 5-6 month life for your dough (depending on several factors). After about 6 months the texture of the dough will begin to change.

Are essential oils always safe for everyone?

Some people might have sensitivities to certain essential oils.
Not all essential oils are safe for babies, children or women who are pregnant or nursing. You should check on essential oil safety if you have any specific questions about your situation.
DoughForIt isn't responsible for knowing your situation, please be informed.
If you have itching, burning or redness after use of a product you may have an allergy/sensitivity and should stop use.

Are essential oils proven to work?

Interesting question, essential oils have been used for thousands of years, but as far as modern day scientific studies go, it's cloudy.
There have been many, many studies done, but the FDA does not standardize essential oils and does not recognize any claims made about essential oils as valid. Therefore, all claims made about the properties of essential oils are considered educational or opinion. They are not meant to stand in for medical advice or intended to treat, cure or prevent any illness or condition.
Essentail oils can be part of a healthy lifestyle, but DoughForIt does not suggest that they replace a doctor visit or medical advice.

Since the dough is all nontoxic can I let my baby or toddler play?

Any dough is a choking hazard for little ones under 3. They just don't know not to put it in their mouths (since it smells so good), and if they take a large bite, it can become lodged in their throat.
DoughForIt dough has a high concentration of salt and would taste very bad! In itself it's not toxic, but is not intended for consumption and should not be eaten.
Not all essential oils are safe for babies or toddlers.
It is best to just keep DoughForIt dough out of reach of little ones.

Is the dough gluten free?

The dough contains wheat flour

It is not gluten free.

I love the word imprint, will it stay in the dough?

No. The dough is imprinted with a word to make it special for the first time it’s opened. After you squish the dough, the word will be gone and won’t come back automatically.

How long can I store the dough before I use it or give it as a gift?

I recommend using the dough within 8-10 weeks at the longest. I don’t recommend long term storage before use.
